GRCC is excited to announce our first ever Weekend Workshop! Join us at the National Music Centre on November 24th + 25th to learn all about DIY Recording.
Girl’s Rock Camp Calgary (GRCC) invites cis and trans girls, and non-binary youth between the ages of 12 and 17 to participate in the first of a series of GRCC workshops at National Music Centre. In this workshop, Nicola Lefevre (Night Committee, Sequicons) and Miesha Louie (Miesha & The Spanks) will take participants hands-on through the home recording process. This workshop involves both technical and performance aspects of recording, with a focus on creating a usable demo for festival applications, booking shows, applying for grants, or just getting your music out there! Over two days participants will learn what gear to use (as well as where to get it), how to make their available space sound the best it can, how to mic, mix, and perform on a recording, and what to do with it when it’s done- all on a small budget. As well, the workshop aims to make the process seem less intimidating, and prepare participants for future recording in professional studios.
Class size is limited to 20, and GRCC needs one band with one song that’s ready to be recorded live off the floor! Registration is now open!
